Young Professionals “Come in From the Cold” for CelebRUSSIAN Shabbat
170 Jewish young professionals came together to celebrate the rich tradtion and culture of Russia when Access presented CelebRUSSIAN Shabbat at the JCC. This event offered an opportunity to honor the many Access participants who came to the US from what is now the former Soviet Union, as well as the many guests whose great, or even great, great grandparents came over in the previous wave of Russian immigration during the turn of the last century.
Nearly 25, either first generation Americans - via Russia - or those who came to the US as young children in the 80’s and 90’s, served as members of the Host Committee.
The evening included drinks, Russian appetizers, dinner and desserts, as well as live music from Cincinnati’s most popular Russian singers, Dennis and Ilona! In addition to the lively music, a wonderful slide presentation with photos from the shtetl and the Russian Revolution, as well as from the Soviet Union and contemporary Russia.
