The Mayerson Foundation Gallery
The Foundation has developed an intimate gallery
of modern, post-modern, and contemporary art
in its office. Each year hundreds of individuals,
art groups, and school groups visit the Gallery
which is open to the public at scheduled times
and by appointment.
Manuel D. and Rhoda Mayerson High School Service-Learning Program
The focus of this program is on strengthening
area high school community service programs
in terms of their ability to provide students
with experiences that inculcate a value for
civic engagement. The Foundation hired the area
“guru” of high school coordinators.
Additional elements of this program include
group workshops for coordinators and students,
school partnership projects, a listserve and
mini-grants.
Generations
Generations is a groundbreaking inter-generational
program that matches senior citizens with classes
in nearby schools every week for the entire
school year. It has been introduced in public
and private schools both locally and nationally.
Depending upon their capabilities, senior volunteers
assist the teachers, work one-on-one with students
who need extra support, or just learn along
with the children. The seniors are full members
of the school communities in which they volunteer,
attending extra curricular activities and even
joining some of the student’s families
for special holiday celebrations and other occasions.
Kesher
Kesher is a Foundation operated initiative in
partnership with the Inclusion Network. Its
purpose is to support and inspire the Jewish
community of Greater Cincinnati in its efforts
to include people with disabilities as full
participants in Jewish life. Kesher works to
raise awareness, to build coalitions among the
community’s various congregations, schools
and agencies, and to assist with the many needs
and issues that are unique to inclusion within
the Jewish community.
